So my wonderful perfect mastiff, Ivy, is 10.5 years old. We have never had a mastiff this old, but she’s so sweet, and such a good girl, that I haven’t minded one minute with her. But she can barely walk due to osteoarthritis in her legs and elbows, and since she weighs about 230 pounds, helping her up and down is taking a toll on our backs. We have perfected a method of lifting her via a towel (there’s a one-person version of the method, and a two-person version), but lately she has decided that she’s not going outside ever again. Which means I spent a lot of time mopping and shampooing the carpets. Most of our rugs are the new washable kind, thank the Lord, so even that is do-able, but . . .

So I’m going to try the adult diapers. I think she will take the XXL size, but if she can keep them on, they may be just what we need, for as long as we need them.

On to other news.

In almost forty years of publishing, I’ve never run into this situation, but there’s a first time for everything. UNWAVERING HEART, the Story of Rebekah, has been in the pipeline and ready to go for months now, but our printer (not the publisher), unexpectedly closed its doors. So my publisher is scrambling to find a new printer, and the September 15th release date isn’t going to happen. Not even for the ebooks (I asked). It looks like Rebekah’s story will now release sometime in October, so my new thriller, THE GLADES, may be releasing right alongside UNWAVERING HEART.

We usually try to space books apart, but since these books are completely different, they won’t compete with each other. They are, metaphorically speaking, an apple and an orange. A biblical historical and a dual-time thriller. So I hope you will enjoy both of them in October. The ebooks are both available for pre-ordering now.

So that’s the news I wanted to share with you. And now I need to know—have you ever tried diapers for your dog? Do they work, or am I indulging in a fantasy here?
