Welcome to the Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt, stop #5!
March 18, 2026

If you’ve just discovered the hunt, be sure to start at Stop #1, and collect the clues through all the stops, in order, so you can enter to win one of our top three grand prizes!

• The hunt BEGINS on 3/19 at noon Mountain with Stop #1 at LisaTawnBergren.com.

• Search through our loop using Chrome or Firefox as your browser (not Explorer).

• There is NO RUSH to complete the hunt—you have all weekend (until Sunday, 3/22 at midnight Mountain)! So take your time, reading theunique posts along the way; our hope is that you discover new authors/new books and learn new things about them.

• Submit your entry for the grand prizes by collecting the CLUE on each author’s scavenger hunt post and submitting your answer in theRafflecopter form at the final stop, back on Lisa’s site. Many authors are offering additional prizes along the way!

If you’ve never visited this site before, I’m Angela Hunt, wife and mother to adult children, mastiffs, and a flock of chickens. I’ve been writing for years–a little bit of everything. Which brings me to my latest release: A MOST PECULIAR PROVIDENCE!

Joshua Donnelly has lived a careful, orderly life in the old house on Church Street, as his mama taught him. Then, on the coldest night of the year, a newborn baby appears in his care with no explanation and no instructions. Only a prayer answered in the most unexpected way. Heather Thomas arrives in Peculiar carrying her own heartbreak, running from mistakes she cannot undo. When her path crosses Josh’s, the two form a fragile, improbable unit built on kindness, faith, and more hope than sense.

As gossip swirls, authorities ask questions, and the town watches closely, Josh and Heather must decide whether to trust coincidence or believe some gifts are heaven-sent. A Most Peculiar Providence is a tender small-town novel about grace, second chances, and the quiet miracles that arrive when love opens the door.

In my story, the young man, Josh, adopts an English mastiff (I’ve had nine–but only two at a time!). So I thought I’d share Josh’s favorite dog treat recipe. If you have a dog, your dog will enjoy this, too! Mine sure do!

Hoss’s Favorite Dog Treats

Take one pound of liver. Try not to think too hard about where it came from—Hoss certainly won’t. Crack one egg into the blender with the liver. You could throw in the shell, because Hoss would consider that a bonus, but you don’t have to. We’re civilized people.  Liquify the whole business until it looks like something only a devoted dog could love. Try not to make eye contact with it. Pour the mix into a bowl. Add one cup of flour and one cup of cornmeal, and stir until it becomes a thick, obedient paste. If you’re doing this right, Hoss will already be sitting at your feet, pretending he has been patient his entire life.

Grease a baking sheet with edges—or give it a quick spray of Pam, a miracle of modern living. Spread the mixture out evenly, the way you’d tuck a blanket over a sleeping baby. Slide the baking sheet into a preheated 400-degree oven and bake for about 15 minutes. While it cooks, you can wash the blender, talk to Hoss, or explain to your family why your kitchen smells like you’ve made a deeply questionable life choice. When it comes out, let it cool, then break it into bite-size pieces and freeze them.

Pull them out as needed—especially for training, bribery, or apologizing to your dog after you’ve been gone too long. With these treats, any dog will sit, stay, lie down, fetch, and probably balance a spoon on his nose just to make you happy. And if someone shakes their head at you while you’re doing all this? Just tell them it’s for love. They’ll understand.

AND NOW . . .

I was so excited about this book, I created a little video featurette and a song to set the theme.

But wait! Before you go, I’m offering an extra special prize to someone who leaves a comment on this post. The prize is an autographed DELUXE copy of A MOST PECULIAR PROVIDENCE, a hardcover with a dust jacket, illustrations, and painted edges! I’ve never had a book look so beautiful! It’s a true collector’s volume, and it retails for $100. To enter, visit this website and enter!

Here are the Stop #5 Basics:

If you’re interested, you can order A Most Peculiar Providence on Amazon,

What a beautiful song to go with the story. The Mastiff is ready to be a caretaker for the baby. I remember growing up with a Collie/Shepherd that I have known since birth. He was my best friend. Sadly he went to Rainbow Bridge when I was 6

The innocence of Josh and the unredeemable image that Heather has of herself causes a lot of tension, but God guides them thorough each trial they face.
