Every year I read the Bible through. π I started this practice a couple of years ago, and now it’s become an important habit. To keep the Word fresh in my head, every year I open up a new Bible for my reading, so the pages are fresh and ready for notes, scrawling, etc.
If you’d like to join me this year, you can find a daily reading schedule here: click here.
And, just to make it interesting (and to make some space on my shelf), I’d like to send someone one of the Bibles I’ve used for daily reading in a previous year. You’ll have my notes and scribblings in the margins, for what it’s worth. π
So . . . I’m thinking of a number, and I’ve written it on my desk calendar. The nth person to leave a little “I’m in!” note will get the Bible (so be sure to check back here to see if you’re the one). I’ll announce the “winner” on Saturday. (U.S. residents only, please.)
P.S. If you came here from Facebook, be sure to leave your note HERE, and not on my FB page.
Thanks! And happy reading!
~~Angie
As much as I read, you would think reading the Bible through would be a piece of cake, but I always failed around the book of Numbers! LOL Now that I’ve done an O.T. study, it may be easier to get through.
And to have a special Bible for it would be great!
I do this every year too – SUCH a blessing! So, of course, I’m IN!
I remember starting this last year and hoping to read all the way through and didn’t make it. No excuses, just simply did not make it. Am starting afresh today with greater desire for it this time. Even though some chapters may not be in their original order (Ruth), I’m excited at the prospect of success this time. Clyde
Thank you, Angela, for the link to the schedule! I did this every year before I got married. Now I can’t find the schedule I used then and get negligent when I don’t have that schedule to keep me on track. (I’m a list person.)
I’m in! I’d love to be inspired &/or challenged by your margin scribbles.
Thanks for the opportunity to possibly gain your perspective about various Bible passages. I’m sure reading your notes will provide additional guidance, above that which we gain from reading His words, and that whomever wins will greatly appreciate learning from you….
I’m in, too! I’ve always wanted to do this but never made it passed Leviticus… π
You know what I love about reading the OT all the way through? You get the big picture of how often God’s people would turn away, and he’d let them go, and they’d repent, and EVERY SINGLE TIME he welcomes them back. It gives me such hope to see that the holy God of justice also is the God of endless mercy.
I’m in, Angie! Hubby and I do this together every third year or so, but I’d love to receive your Bible with notes. It would be such a blessing.
I like that idea! I’m in.
I’m in. And what a generous thing to do–share your Bible musings with us!
I joined you last year, too–though not at quite your vigorous pace. (I’m a bit older. HA!)
Hope you are all healed from your sore throat and that whatever awaits you and your family in this new year–it includes just the right amount of “hectic” for you. And plenty of new books for us. π
Happy New Year, Angie.

TRBC is doing their own schedule too, so the Cleaver family is IN. π
The Catholic Church goes the the entire Scriptures every 3 years through the Daily Readings…hence, Cycles A, B, and C. (a little trivia for the new year *smile*)
However, since I can’t get to Mass every day, I really need to read on my own more than I have (confession is good for the soul!). So COUNT ME IN!! Hopefully this is one New Year’s resolution that won’t fall by the wayside.
Hi, Angieβ
I’m in!
It would be so nice to have a Bible with notes throughout to help me keep my commitment to read through the Bible in a year. What a great idea.
Blessings,
Sherry
What a great idea! Didn’t one of the founding fathers read the Bible through each year then presented it to one of his many children? I’m in.
Blessings for the New Year

What a great idea! I have read through the bible many times. What a perfect way to bring in a new decade,a new year, happy 2010!
God’s Blessings to you and your family!
I’m in! thanks Angie, for the Bible reading calendar. I needed this little nudge; it’s been awhile since I read the Bible through. God bless!
I’m in…I always seem to get 1/2 way and then fail…..hopefully this year will be different!

Do you know of a mixed reading schedule?

I would love to have one of your Bibles. You don’t have to mail it, just bring it on the Heavenly Daze Cruise, this month.

If you click on the link in the article, it offers several options for reading through the Scriptures: historically, chronologically, OT/NT, etc. It’s a great website . . . just print out the version you’d like to use. I’m going for chronological in 2010.

Can we leave a second comment?!
I’m in as well – I think it would be a blast to read your thoughts and scribbles! π
Thanks so much for writing good, Godly material. My husband and I just watched The Note. We were both touched by the “heart” of the message. I’m in. I would feel like I was reading through the Bible with God and you. God bless, Kristen
Would just love to know which Bible you use?
Malvina
I know I’m to late but what a wonderful idea to give your Bible to someone that would love to have it. I would be thrilled to have one of your Bibles. I am a friend of your Mothers and would love to read a Bible from her precious daughter. I’m in.
God bless you for doing this. Carolyn Bradley

Hope I’m not too late to be in…it would be wonderful to have to read and also have your notes and thoughts.
Here is hoping that I am better late than never. I am in!
